All is Well is a very peaceful
painting with some interesting lines and textures. The hill in
front has the deepest textures, the hill behind has lighter
textures, and the hill farthest back has barely noticeable texture.
The result is an unusual feeling of depth that draws the viewer in.
There are three small trees (also textured) enjoying the clear blue
skies and warm summer light. And there is a single phrase
painted in tiny letters that reads, "There is nothing wrong with
you." When I get uncomfortable in my skin and feel all wrong
inside, I have found that even a short visit to a quiet place in
nature makes a big difference. Brings me back to my center.
Reminds me to slow down and breathe. I am hopeful that this vibrant image of nature at rest will help remind some fellow workaholic out there to slow down and breathe deep and remember that you are just fine. How All is Well was created..... After priming this panel with black gesso, I used my fingers to move paint directly from my palette to the canvas. I applied the paint by patting the canvas with my fingertips (like playing a drum) and that created the rich organic textures. First I painted these hills orange and red and brown. When that dried, I used brushes to paint atop that underpainting and created the lush greens you see in the finished piece. The reds underneath make the green really pop. I used wide soft brushes to create the gorgeous slow-fade in the summer sky and I used tiny detail brushes to add highlights, paint the trees, and add the words.
