Colored pencil on acid-free mat board

7" x 10.25"

Bears is such a unique piece.  Each person who has ever gone through my work in person has smiled immediately upon viewing this one.  There is just something about kids and balls, and about kids and animals.  I am not going to explain any story here, I would prefer that you see your own story.  But I will say that this drawing has gorgeous, layered color and a warm luminance.  It is a distinctive original work of art sure to bring smiles and daydreams to any home or work space.

How Bears was created...  I rarely have time to create these detailed colored pencil pieces any longer. They are VERY labor intensive. To get colors that deep, I have to layer pencil for many many hours. Bears actually took a week of full-time effort. My hands cramp so bad when I work in pencil that I wake up aching. It is worth it when I see the results, though. The level of detail that I can capture with pencils is unparalleled. No other media can do what pencils can.

Bears was drawn on acid-free mat board.  You will want to protect your investment by framing this piece.  You can save a bit on framing if you choose a ready-made frame at your favorite home store and bring the art and frame together to a custom-framer who can mat the art to fit the frame.  But if you go this route, I highly recommend that you replace the plain glass with what framers call "museum glass".  That will screen out harmful UV rays.  These colored pencil pieces are EXTREMELY light-sensitive and will quickly fade if exposed to direct light.
