I love this painting so much. I
even considered keeping it. Which is highly unusual for me.
But I need the message in this piece. And I love the rich
gritty urban feel of it. And the textures! This one is
special. Bravery took me weeks to discover. It took many
different forms before it reached this lovely conclusion. And
the surprising layered colors and textures can attest to this.
It speaks of history and experience and battles won. This
painting also continues my interest in the subtle inclusion of
language in art. There are a pair of sentences painted in small letters in the lower right
which read, "I embrace my fears. I open my heart." This
image is sure to balance any room with its message of clarity and
truth. Bravery was created in layers. Many, many, many layers. This piece has ridges made of modeling paste and ridges made of paint. It has colors that were painted on and colors that were rubbed on and colors that were scraped off, too. It has bold contrasts and subtle transitions. And it has that fine, detailed heart. |
