Buckwheat

Completed in 2002

Acrylic on mat board

6" x 7"

(Detail)

Buckwheat came from a shelter.  We do not know what happened to his ear, but he lived in Minnesota and it looks to me like it was probably lost to frostbite.  He was a quiet, serene, watchful cat.  Buckwheat passed away this past year and has been dearly missed.  This painting is filled with surprising soft color and shows a clean, simple composition with some realistic, fine detail work.
