This painting is a wild party on canvas. A celebration! A dance! It is a richly colored and textured joyful song. With an unexpected house and a single sentence painted in very small letter in the lower right corner. The words read, "I am surprisingly comfortable in the colorful chaos of my odd little life." What fun. Declaring an end to my struggle to be normal. I do not care to be organized. I do not care to set goals. I am glad there are folks in my life who love structure and planning and routine. But I am also glad to be me. Uniquely me. Disorganized, unpredictable, irrepressible me.

It is my hope that this unique painting will bring comfort and smiles to the home of some other chaotic dreamer out there.

Chaos was created mostly with a palette knife. First, I primed the canvas panel with black acrylic gesso. Next, I applied paint directly from the tubes to the canvas and blended them with my palette knife. While that layer was still wet, I used a paint scraper to blend them further and to abrade the surface just a bit. I layered colors on this piece for days. Finally, I used tiny detail brushes to paint the floating house and the words. And I used my fingers to rub black along the edges.
