Delicate Wishes
Completed in 2004
4" x 6"
Acrylic on canvas panel

(Detail)
| This painting is a little oasis of
peace and quiet. A moment of calm. It is a warm,
minimalist prayer for small surprises. A wee bit of
bright metallic gold paint was mixed in with the yellows and oranges
and pinks to give Delicate Wishes a slight shine. This piece
continues my interest in the subtle inclusion of language in art
with a single phrase painted in small letters in the bottom right
corner. The words read, "Embrace your most delicate wishes."
This graceful dove is sure to brighten any room with such beautiful
hues and textures and that simple, encouraging suggestion. First, I primed the canvas panel with black gesso and then I finger-painted the entire panel with gorgeous yellows, oranges, pinks and reds. I used a butter knife to remove the texture from the spot where the dove would appear. And then I used teensy detail brushes to paint that hopeful bird. |
