This little donkey loves the water but cannot swim.  So he is rarely seen without his life-preserver.  Filled with surprising color and sharp details, this painting is such a bright spot.  I am hopeful my happy donkey friend will bring some warmth and whimsy to your home or office.

I began this piece with white gesso primer that I tinted to a warm honey ochre color.  Then I built the image up over many layers.  I allowed the layers to peak out around the edges of this vignette so that you can see a bit of the creative process as it unfolded.
