This is a really fun painting.
And a thoughtful one, too. There are deep colors, intriguing
textures, and exciting lines here. There are also words
painted in very small letters in the lower part of the image that
read, "Some people choose to live on the edge because they like the
view." I think there are a lot of folks who share my interest
in living on the edge. Who do so quietly. Without the
drama and noise and excitement that Hollywood attaches to stories
about people outside the mainstream. Who live on the edge
because they like the uncluttered view, not because they want to
make some melodramatic statement. Not because they have a
problem with "the rest of the world". I think there are a lot
of us who keep to ourselves in our secret corners of Heaven because
we are happiest on the edge. I am hopeful this colorful dream will inspire you to find your own secret hide-out in the clouds. How Edgy was created..... After priming this panel with black gesso, I used palette knives to paint a wild, emotional, colorful soup. Mostly pastel tones with a few bright spots. Then I used my fingers to push acrylic modeling paste into lovely, irregular ridges which became the three-dimensional drawing that anchors this piece. And then I used wide soft brushes and rich translucent washes to build up the deep blue sky, the soft fluffy clouds, and the dark brown earth. Finally, I used my smaller brushes to paint the details of this piece and to add the words. Edgy was painted on a large 11" x 14" rigid canvas panel. The edges have been painted black so that this piece looks beautiful displayed unframed on a small decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting. ***NOTE: I can include a new black, wood, mission-style display easel with your order for just $10.00. Please email me and let me know if you would like one.
