Because this one-of-a-kind piece is highly textured, the images below may show faint "hot spots" caused by light reflecting off the peaks of paint. Additional scans are available on request.

This painting is a small oasis of
calm. A glimpse of the great blue yonder. A reassuring
reminder that there are still unspoiled places in the world.
Places where the rhythms of nature play out uninterrupted. It
is a sweet little piece filled with deep deep color and satisfying
textures, too. With a peaceful, well-balanced composition.
It is a bit like a lullaby. I am hopeful this soft landscape will bring a bit of cooling comfort to your home or office. And maybe a little bit of hope, too. How Equilibrium was created..... Once the black gesso primer dried, I used palette knives to apply many shades of blue and purple and turquoise and plum to the area that would be the sea. I applied the paint with short, choppy motions to add an extra bit of sea-like texture. Once that layer dried, I used wide soft brushes to paint smooth transparent layers in the sky. Lush baby blue with hints of warm eggshell white and darker ultramarine blue and a touch of lavender. I blended and blended and layered and layered until the colors reached jewel-like depths. Next, I used a soft cloth to rub some of those same colors across the textured water. And finally I used tiny detail brushes to add the bits of land and the contented trees. Equilibrium was painted on a rigid canvas panel. The painting continues around the edges and it looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting. ***NOTE: I can include a new black, wood, mission-style display easel with your order for just $10.00. Please email me and let me know if you would like one.
