This beautiful, elegant painting is really comforting to be around. I am not sure what it is about this piece... supposedly red is an aggravating color, but not in this case. It is warming, alive in a healthy way. Powerful in a protective way. Every Day feels ancient and true. It continues my interest in the subtle inclusion of language in art with three sentences painted in tiny letter in the lower right part of the painting. The first sentence reads, "Life is unfair, brutal, cold." The second offers, "But that does not change the fact that miracles happen every day. Every day." The single bold flower holds her own in this open composition filled with deep colors and organic textures. I am hopeful that this poetic abstract painting of balance will bring a thoughtful bit of inspiration to your home or office. Every Day was created over the course of a weeks time. I built up layers of color and roughed up the paint to create some great textures. I used a dental tool to engrave the small window. And I used a damp cloth to rub through some of the soft color washes to give this piece that timeless feel. I finished with small detail brushes, creating the bright flower and adding highlights and lowlights and the words. This piece was painted on a 6" x 8" wooden panel. It is an unusual panel with a beveled back that was imported from Italy. The sides are painted and I will add a sawtooth hanger at your request so that you can hang your new painting unframed.
