This unique original drawing has always been one of my favorites. It always makes me happy. I am not sure what the miscommunication has been between this fellow and the tree, but I definitely feel as though I have been in his shoes too many times before. This inspired original drawing is sure to bring thoughtful smiles to any home or work space. It features rich, velvety color; warm Spring light, and an intriguing, well-balanced composition. I rarely have time to create these detailed colored pencil pieces any longer. They are VERY labor intensive. To get colors that deep, I have to layer pencil for many many hours. Often for days. My hands cramp so bad I wake up aching. It is worth it when I see the results, though. The level of detail that I can capture with pencils is unparalleled. No other media can do what pencils can. This is a luminous, emotional drawing and I really hope that it finds a home with someone who shares my believe that we are all in this together - trees, people, animals, etc.
(How Expectations might look framed in a standard-sized 11" x 14" frame.) Expectations was created on an acid-free mat board. You will want to protect your investment by framing this piece. You can save a bit on framing if you choose a ready-made frame at your favorite home store and bring the art and frame together to a custom-framer who can mat the art to fit the frame. But if you go this route, I highly recommend that you replace the plain glass with what framers call "museum glass". That will screen out harmful UV rays. These colored pencil pieces are EXTREMELY light-sensitive and will quickly fade if exposed to direct light. |
