I love this bright, bold painting.  What fun!  This inventive surreal landscape continues my interest in the subtle inclusion of language in art with a single phrase painted in very small letter in the shadow of the house.  The words read, "Gravity is a choice."  This piece has beautiful deep hues; fun, varied lines, and an open, whimsical composition.  The subject matter here reminds me a bit of Magritte and the style reminds me a bit of Van Gogh.  Overall, the components come together to create a free-spirited, buoyant daydream that is sure to brighten the home or workspace of some fellow creative soul out there.

I began by priming a gallery wrapped canvas with black acrylic gesso.  Then I used a teensy detail brush and white paint to sketch in this fanciful floating house.  I used a wide soft brush to lay in the washes that would become the perfect blue skies.  And I used a variety of detail brushes to complete the house and to paint in the bright, textured grass.  Both the house and the grassy area are made up of many many layers of color.
