(Details)
I just adore this sweet painting. Having Enough is my comment on all of the spam emails and television commercials and reality shows that suggest there must be something wrong with me if I don't think there is something wrong with me. I do not want to change my body, my facial features, my laundry detergent or my dating arrangement. I do not want a huge house and an expensive car and lots of stuff. I do not want a mail order degree or viagra or low-carb solutions either. I am happy to be me and in this crazy world of marketing run amuck, that is a revolutionary statement. Especially considering my many glaring imperfections.
The words in this piece read, "I am a quiet revolutionary. I am happy to be me." Having Enough is a grand statement in a simple, unassuming package and it is sure to brighten the home or office of some other quiet revolutionary out there.
This gorgeous painting was created in layers. First, I primed the canvas with black gesso and then I coated it with acrylic modeling paste for texture. I scratched the drawing into the surface with a dental tool. And then I painted the image and words. This piece has some soft, smooth color washes; a wonderful, wide-open composition; and a great sense of warm summer light.

I am a quiet revolutionary.
I am happy to be me.
