Rolling hills, simple white houses,
fluffy clouds and blue skies that glow are elements that have
appeared in my work many times throughout my career. There is something
about these fairytale-like symbols that soothe me and brighten my
spirits. This particular drawing has gorgeous soft hills and
silky colors. It is a glimpse of some important dream and I am
hopeful it will brighten your home or office with a touch of
peaceful,
quiet magic. I began this image by roughing out this composition and then laying down a layer of bright, bold colors. Then I used a straight-edged razor blade to scrape that layer of oil pastel off and leave the mat board stained with a subtle underpainting. Then I layered and layered and layered and blended and blended until I had this sweet, hopeful landscape that felt like a faraway land. |
