I love this painting!  This whole recent batch of pieces holds particular importance for me, but this piece is my favorite by far.  It refers to the Myth of Sisyphus.  He is the fellow who was condemned to push the rock up the hill everyday only to see it roll back down the hill at the end of his labors.  To me, that sums up the ridiculousness of our current economic model here in the US.  Too rarely, do we stop to wonder where all of our toiling is getting us.  This piece continues my interest in the use of language in art.  There are two phrases painting in tiny letters hidden in this painting.  In the sky, you will find, "Life is not a test."  And on the grassy hill are the words, "The world is yours."

We have been blessed with Heaven and we squander it working to prove that we deserve it.  Happiness is just a matter of faith, believing that we are here for a reason and that savoring the beauty of this place is our most important work.
