This is primarily a finger-painting. Brushes were used only in the final stage of painting in order to add highlights and lowlights. This painting is too large to scan in it's entirety so the first image is a digital photo. The detailed scans below give a more accurate view of the actual colors and textures involved. Additional detailed scans available on request.

Limitless is a glorious, playful,
inspirational landscape filled with exciting colorful surprises.
And it is HUGE. I have not worked this large since college
twelve years ago. This was an epic work for me. Immense.
And I was committed to maintaining the same attention to detail on
this oversized canvas as I would a smaller piece. The result
is an incredibly dynamic window onto a truly magical world. This painting was created mostly by applying paint directly from the tube to the canvas and then blending colors by patting the canvas with my fingertips (like playing a drum). In the finishing stage, a small brush was used to add key highlights. While many similar landscapes in my portfolio contain words and phrases painted on the canvas, this piece speaks through color and line alone. I felt the subject was so strong and clear that words would be redundant. The canvas has staple-free sides and the painting continues around the sides allowing you to display this painting unframed if you choose. Limitless is sure to enchant any home or work space with so many vibrant hues and the obvious message that anything is possible if you believe. |
