Living is a powerful spiritual piece filled with gorgeous color and texture. And it continues my interest in the subtle inclusion of language in art with a single word in each of the four corners. They read, "Stillness, Storms, Destruction, Rebirth." Living is a finger-painting. I applied paint directly from the tube to the wood panel and then patted the surface of the wood with my fingertips - like playing a drum - in order to blend and distribute the paint. I kept a bucket of water and several rolls of paper towels near my easel in order to clean off between colors. Once the painting dried, I used a small detail brush to add the words. This piece is on a wood panel, the image continues around the sides, and there is a saw tooth hanger attached to the back so that you can display it unframed if you like. This compelling minimalist finger-painting is sure to temper any room with its calming message of balance and light. |
