This is a nice, quiet, comforting abstract that reminds me to accept my human heart as it is.  To accept the imperfections that make life rich.  The drama that keeps life colorful.  The confusion that keeps me humbled.  This painting has a simple, balanced composition filled with layered textures and rich washes.  And a single phrase painted in very small letters which read, "You have permission to make mistakes."

This one makes me feel good.  Peaceful.  It is a good painting to have around.

Mistakes was created over time.  I built up layers and then abraded them and wore them back down.  I used dental tools and a paint scraper to distress the surface.  And then I used a soft cloth and thin washes to give it that weathered, timeless feel that I like so much and often seek in my work.  It feels like an old-time truth too often forgotten out in the rain.
