Abstract painting LOOKS like it must be really easy.  But starting from nothing was really hard for me.  I have grown so used to having some solid frame of reference - a tree, a dog, a woman - at least in the beginning.  The challenge was worth it, though, because having no parameters was also exhilarating.  I had a ball with these.  They felt like poetry.
