This is a gorgeous painting. In person, the textures and
colors just glow. It feels like a picnic outdoors on a warm
sunny day in late Spring. When everything is ripe and
changing. There are all sorts of layer and undertones and
highlights in this piece. All sort of painting fun and
colorful emotion. It is like getting a bouquet of fresh
flowers from someone sweet. Only better because paintings
never die.
There are words painted in the lower right corner in tiny black letters. They read, "Pessimism is too easy." Because being hip and bitter gets you nowhere. It is a hollow performance. With no soul. Optimism - on the other hand - is a lot of work, but it is the best kind of work. Work with a purpose. With measurable results. I created this glowing image of hope with the intention of bringing warmth and inspiration to your home or office. How Pessimism was created..... Once the black gesso primer dried, I used palette knives to apply all sorts of wild reds and oranges all across the panel. Then I used dental tools to clear that layer from the area that would be the juicy pink heart. After that work dried, I used wide soft brushes to layer warm buttery yellows and bright apple green and lemon and pink across the top. I used fine detail brushes to paint the black lines and the words. And I applied a very small amount of iridescent pink/purple to the heart. So that it shimmers faintly as the light plays across the painting. I finished this piece by adding key highlights and lowlights and my signature. Pessimism was painted on a thin masonite panel. This piece can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting. Or it can be displayed on a small stand or decorative easel.
