This glorious landscape feels bigger than it is.  It is a gorgeous, textured piece that gives off a bright hopeful light without being smarmy or too sentimental.  Who doesn't love that first peak of sun after a good storm?  And why is it so hard to remember that the rough spots in life serve a purpose?  This piece is sure to bring a ray of warm light and thoughts of balance to any home or work space.

This painting was created in layers.  First, the board was primed with black acrylic gesso.  Next, I used my fingers to push acrylic modeling paste into lovely, naturally irregular ridges that formed a three-dimensional drawing.  Then I used small brushes to paint the scene, first building all of the sky up as shades of purple and the ground as an even green, then going back in and using fine detail brushes to separate the clouds and add the blue skies, bright light and dark shadows.
