(Details)
This beautiful, elegant painting is a soft resting place for the eyes. A quiet oasis for sweet thoughts. This piece is filled with surprising hues and gentle movement It also continues my interest in the use of language in art. There are two phrases painted in tiny letters, one in each corner. They read, "Take refuge in this love." And, "You are always welcome here."
I began by priming a canvas panel with black acrylic gesso. Then I created an expressionist painting filled with blues, teals, and greens. I used an ice-scraper to remove the colors and textures from a small rectangle. And I used a soft cotton cloth to rub warm whites and pale, pale pastel shades across the surface of the painting. Finally, I used my smallest detail brushes to paint the bold pink heart, the words, and the accent lines. And I used my fingers to rub black along all of the edges of the panel.
