The words read:  The flowers bring me beauty and I forget about those long cold winter months.

This sunny bit of Spring is such a treat to see.  The colors in this one are spectacular.  And the textures are a lot of fun, too.  Renewal is a bright, hopeful comment on the cyclical nature of life.  I sometimes see my moods flowing like seasons and I realize that I have trouble imagining warmth when I am cold.  And I have trouble remembering the cold when I am warm.  And that is the way of nature.  This unique painting is sure to warm any room with a touch of floral magic.

This piece is part finger-painting and part brush painting.  First, I primed the canvas with black gesso and then coated it with acrylic modeling paste.  I patted the surface with my fingertips, pulling the modeling paste up into these fun little peaks.  Then I scratched a few lines into the surface and I took an ice scraped and scraped the texture off the smooth area.  Finally, I finger-painted the textured areas and used brushes to create the lovely flower and the rest of the smooth area.
