I do not want to write too much about this piece. It is one of my all-time favorite images. For some reason, it has a real powerful affect on me. I find great comfort in this painting and I am hopeful it will bring you peace, too. How Vulnerability was created..... It just fell right out of me. Wholly unexpected. It was incredibly satisfying to make and I am very grateful. A wide variety of tools were used in the creation of this image including brushes, fingers, cloth, paper, dental picks, and paint scrapers.
(The image continues around the sides of the board. This is a digital photo. The scans above are more accurate.) Vulnerability was painted on canvas that has been mounted with archival adhesives on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel.
