This is a pretty painting. I don't usually consider my work
pretty, but there is something very natural and very feminine about
this piece. At least it seems that way to me. It feels
like dried flowers, maybe. Or like old brocade fabric. Walls is a soft, geometric, abstract expressionist painting with a bright central heart. It continues my interest in the subtle inclusion of language in art with two phrases painted near the bottom of the canvas. They read, "I will admit I have put a few walls up over the years." And then, "They are mostly just decorative, though." I am not going to write in depth about this one. I would prefer to let you see your own story here. But I am really hopeful that this unusual warm painting will bring a few thoughtful smiles to your home or office. How Walls was created..... This painting evolved through many different incarnations. There are several layers of underpainting here, some filled with complimentary colors, some with contrasting colors. I used palette knives, paint brushes, dental tools and an ice-scraper to develop the rich warm feel of this piece. And I used tiny detail brushes to paint the window area with the heart in it and to add the words and key highlights.
(The image continues around the staple-free sides. These are digital photos. The scans above and below are more accurate.) Walls was painted on an 8" square gallery wrapped canvas. The image continues around the staple-free sides allowing you to display this piece unframed if you like. It looks beautiful hung on the wall as it is or set on a small decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.
