The original drawing, "Wealth" is now for sale. This elegant scene is from a series of quiet, minimalist landscapes that I have been working on. In our chaotic world, a peaceful moment with rich colors and a clean, simple composition just feels so good to me. These pieces are always my favorite drawings and paintings to create. They develop smoothly, evolving with effortless magic. Like dreams. Wealth is filled with subtle hues and soft lines. It is a scene common to my home state, Minnesota, and also one that I hold dear to my heart. I find farmland to be hopeful, healing, and startlingly beautiful.

My oil pastel drawings are built up in layers. Because the media does not lend itself to subtlety, I've had to get creative to find ways of mixing hues. I lay down an "underpainting" of bright colors and then use a straight-edged razor blade to remove that layer leaving a colored stain on the mat board. I then layer softer hues atop that stain to reach the desired affect.
