This is such a fun piece.  Why Not? obviously continues my exploration of the inclusion of language in art.  In this case, I used a dental tool to "engrave" words into the oil pastels, scratching through to show the layers of color underneath.  All of my oil pastel drawings are built up over many layers in order to achieve the lovely subtle hues and smooth transitions that are so pleasing.  This drawing has a single word or phrase in each of the shapes and then a single over-riding idea in the open space.  The words include ...  Come with me.  I cannot wait.  Why not?  Now.  Believe.  Time for a change.  Magic for you.  Freedom.  I am not afraid to lose.  I want to try.  Please?  Your time.  Right now.  And ... Sound judgment has never been my strong suit."
