This beautiful painting came as such a surprise to me.  I have not done a nude in twelve years!  And I have not worked from a nude model since then either, so this piece was created from a rusty memory.  Isn't she just a vision of light, though?  The lines, the textures, the soft hues are all so comforting and the whole piece just seems to dance.  Woman is certain to bring a powerful bit of feminine magic to any home or work space.

This painting was created over the course of several days and required many layers.  First, the canvas was primed with black gesso and then I finger-painted the whole thing with brilliant blues and reds.  Then after that layer dried and the finger-painting left a nice, even texture, I went in with a wide soft brush and painted multiple washes of warm whites and light pinks and yellowed grays.  Then I added the ochre areas.  At that point, I still had no idea what the actual subject of the painting would be.  And then this gorgeous woman appeared, all curves and gracious movement.  She, too, has layers of subtle hues.  And lastly came that fine, natural, hypnotic black line.
