This little firecracker should bring a fun spark to any room.  Worth It is a playful piece filled with vibrant color and a silly sentiment.  It continues my interest in the combination of language and visual art.  There are two sentences painted in very small, camouflaged letters at the bottom of the piece.  They read, "Love is a lot of work.  It pays pretty well, though."

Worth It was a joy to paint.  I primed the wood with black acrylic gesso and then built up layers of red working from cool, darker magentas and maroons in the underpainting to the top layers of mostly warm oranges and hot spots of bright pink.  And then there is that delicious cool heart.  The heart has hidden touches of purple and teal to give it extra glow.
