This original painting is lightly textured and the scans may show "hot spots" where light is bouncing off the raised parts.  Additional scans are available on request.

The words read:  She wanted to rise above it all.

I really like this painting.  It is moody in a good way.  And filled with nicely layered colors and textures.  There is a single phrase painted in tiny black letters in the lower right that reads, "She wanted to rise above it all."  Don't we all?  I am hopeful this meditative landscape will bring smiles to the home of some fellow lone-wolf out there who shares my passion for quiet and solitude.

How Above it all was created.....   After the black gesso primer dried, I used brushes to apply a thin layer of acrylic modeling paste in short active strokes.  To create some dynamic textures.  Once that lively underpainting dried, I used sift wide brushes to lay down many transparent washes of color, slowly taming those active textures until I achieved a serene landscape that hints at hidden power or power that is carefully contained.  The lighting in this piece also seems to hint at something powerful in the works, too, doesn't it?  Like a storm is brewing.  I will bet she has a neat vantage point to view the coming storm.  From her perch there on the hill.

Above it All was painted on a masonite panel.  The image and textures continue around the edges of the panel, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel.   Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.  ***NOTE: I can include a small clear plastic stand with this painting at no charge.  Or I can include a new black, wood, mission-style display easel with your order for just $10.00. Please be sure to specify your interest in a stand or an easel when you order.
