Afterlife

I love this pretty piece. It is an unusual painting for me. I rarely work in these softened almost heathered tones and I rarely work with such a limited palette. But it all came together so nicely here that I do not question the results. I find this soft image reassuring somehow. Like the boat will eventually make landfall on peaceful shores.

How Afterlife was created... This is a traditional brush painting. The background evolved through many light washes of color, the foreground is the result of heavier shorter brush strokes to make it pop. I used tiny 20/0 detail brushes to add the boat and the words.

Afterlife was painted on an 8" x 10" oval stretched canvas with staple-free sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall or on a small easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.

After years of searching, I finally found a commercial printer willing to run small batches of multiple designs at an affordable rate! These postcards feature vibrant high-resolution reproductions of my work on glossy cardstock. The backsides are typically blank but may contain a copyright notice. While these cards may be sent through the postal system, I opted not to have the backsides printed with mailing graphics for two reasons. I wanted to keep costs down so I could sell these for super-affordable prices. And most of my customers report using postcards for display purposes, not for mailing. These are display quality art and would look lovely framed.
