Oooh this is such a nice piece.  I am not sure why, but this painting really grabs me.  It feels magical somehow.  Like anything is possible.  I live in a big city and the light pollution here means that I can only ever see a few stars at a time.  But when I escape to the country and I look up into the miraculous darkness of a clear clear night, the limitless number of twinkling stars always renew my spirit.  This painting is like that.  A little dose of the country.  Good for the spirit.

How Alone was created.....   After the black acrylic gesso primer dried, I applied a texturing product that contains teeny tiny glass beads to the sky.  It is so cool!  I applied fine artist grade stucco texturing gel to the land.  Once those layers dried, I used palette knives and a variety of brushes to layer those gorgeous night sky colors.  And the deep earth tones on the land.  I finished the piece using 18/0 spotter brushes to paint those twinkling stars and the tree and key highlights.

Alone was painted on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel.  This piece also sits nicely on edge and could be displayed that way on a desk or bookshelf.
