I have been learning more about the founding of America lately and I can only imagine how beautiful this land was before we blanketed it with billboards and freeways and housing developments.  I love this brave little house standing watch over an open horizon.  It makes me happy.  I dream of living in untouched nature where I can see beauty on all sides.

I am hopeful this small inspired landscape will bring a bit of light and thoughtful calm to your home or office.

How America was created.....   After priming this board with black acrylic gesso, I used brushes and my fingers to layer blues through the sky.  Then I used wide soft brushes to layer greens and browns and ochre across the land.  And finally I used very small detail brushes to paint the charming house and to add a few key highlights.

(The image continues around the sides.  This is a digital photo.  The scans above are more accurate.)

America was painted on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel.
