Oh
to be a tree on a quiet hillside soaking up the light and shifting
with the wind. This is a lovely warm landscape. One of
my favorites in a long time. With many transparent layers of
color giving it a unique glow. And fun textures, too! If
hung in the right place, this is one of those paintings that could
really transform a room. The words in this vibrant piece read: No television, no telephone, no computer, no commute. Heaven on earth, right? How many of us are living frantic chaotic empty lives just because we cannot stop rushing around long enough to actually feel what we want? To imagine something more. It is so easy to get caught up in the vast rushing stream of information and things to do and things to buy. I get lost all the time. It is only when I can steal a moment alone in nature that I remember myself and remember to breathe and dream of a future home on a hill with fields all around. How A Moment of Peace was created... I used palette knives to complete much of this piece. It is filled with exciting textures and you can see the paint was applied energetically. I let the palette knife layers dry fully between sessions of painting and then went in with brushes and added key highlights and lowlights. Then I went in again with a soft damp cloth to smooth some of the transitions. Finally, I used a tiny detail brush to add the words. A Moment of Peace was painted on a large 10" x 20" professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.5" sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.
