For the benefit of my international customers, I should explain that the phrase, "Turning over a new leaf" is often used in Western cultures to refer to making big life changes.  Beginning anew.  And this painting captured just that mood.  Growth!  Evolution.  Redefining your boundaries.  Re-imagining your future.

The words in this painting read:  A new leaf.  I am not afraid to reinvent myself.

Too often, we lose sight of the infinite possibilities that present themselves with each new day.  You can be whatever you like!  And if you want to be something else tomorrow, you can do that, too.  Even if you had some epiphany five years ago and did some courageous thing and changed your life around, that does not mean your wild changes (then) will suit you now.  Maybe you have to become something entirely different now.  And maybe next year you will need to be different again!  New leaves are everywhere.  Do not be afraid to examine them and turn over as many as you like.

How A New Leaf was created...  I worked on this canvas off-and-on for several weeks and the result is a rich, organic image with layers and layers of color.  The majority of this painting was created with palette knives and the balance was completed with brushes.

(The staple-free sides have been painted so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)

A New Leaf was painted on a 6" x 8" gallery-wrapped canvas with staple-free sides.  This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall or on a small stand or easel.  Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.

A new leaf.

I am not afraid to reinvent myself.
