This is the newest from my series of Angels. It is a vibrant,
playful, almost triumphant image. In the upper right corner, I
painted a single word in tiny black letters. It reads,
BELIEVE. Because only folks who truly believe in magic and
miracles and the power of love can experience true hope. Real
hope. The kind of hope that transports you beyond the
limitations of your environment. The kind of hope that gives
you wings. This is a beautiful balanced image filled with bold color and nice clean lines. I would like for this special Angel to brighten your home or office with a bit of luck and a sunnier perspective. How Angel of Hope was created... The basis for this Angel is a collage. After the black acrylic gesso dried, I used layers of clear acrylic medium to apply the following photo to the surface:
After the photo dried to the canvas, I went to work and used my fingers, brushes, and towels to apply layers and layers of color. Sometimes I let layers dry between applications. Sometimes a allowed layers to mix while still tacky. Once all of the textures and underlying colors were set, I used tiny detail brushes to transform the standing model in the photo into an airborne Angel of light. There are few recognizable elements of the original photo left in this finished painting. I changed her body, her face, her clothing, her hair, everything. The model provided a starting point and I let my imagination move me from there to the finished image of hope and faith. Angel of Hope was painted on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.5" sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be shown on a small decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.
