We
live in an era of excess. A time of clutter. With too
many things, too many sounds, too many ideas, too many events, and
too many people. With messages skittering across the landscape
in every direction and flashing from screens and sounding from
radios, it is no wonder we have trouble focusing. I find it is
easiest to reach some level of clarity when I am dreaming. Or
when I am laying still in the night. When the darkness hides
some of the clutter and muffles some of the noise. In times of fear and confusion, the night sky can be a great guide. Nature's magic is strongest at night. Try going out in a clearing at night and silently looking up for assistance. If you are patient and you pay attention, you will find your path is clearly defined for you and all you have to do is fallow along. I would like for this fun little landscape will bring a bit of clarity and hope to your home or office. How At Night was created..... After the black acrylic primer dried, I used my fingers to move paint directly from my palette to the canvas. I patted the canvas with my fingertips (like playing a drum) in order to mix the colors. When I lifted my fingers from the surface, the paint pulled up into great organic peaks and valleys that provide some textures you will want to touch. Before that layer dried, I used a dental tool to "engrave" the lines of this piece in the surface and to remove the textures from the area that would become the sliver moon. I also used a palette knife to remove the texture from the area that would become the path. Once that layer dried, I used brushes to add specks of unexpected color and to paint the scene and to add the words. At Night was painted on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas. This piece looks wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass. It is also looks lovely displayed on a small decorative easel.
