Awakening

This enchanting little landscape captures that magical time when the moon and the sun cross paths. It is an inspirational image created as a reminder that morning will come! We just have to believe and to be patient. And to remember how the darkness gave way to the light in past times of struggle. We do not have to DO anything in order to bring the light back to the sky. The sun knows the way.

Awakening has gorgeous ripe colors and rich organic textures. It has an unexpectedly large presence for a small canvas. I am hopeful this sweet landscape will bring warmth and optimism to your home or office.

How Awakening was created... After the black gesso primer dried, I used black lava texturing gel to create some exciting textures in the area that would become the sky. I cleared away much of the texture gel from a small circle that would become the moon and from the area that would become the tree. I left the ground untextured. Once that underpainting dried, I used wide soft brushes to blend many many layers of blue throughout the sky and green across the land. Then I used tiny detail brushes to add key highlights and to paint the tree and the moon. And also to add the words, "Morning will find us."

Awakening was painted on a professional quality gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.5" sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be shown on a small decorative easel. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass. This piece is also quite stable sitting alone on a table or shelf.
