Title: Bat for Tomorrow Completed in: 2008 Size: 4" x 6" Materials: Acrylic on stretched canvas The words read: Better days for us. |

(Enlarged to show details.)
|
MY REACTION: This is a rich and satisfying little piece. Warm and expressive with loose energetic painting. CONTENT: Bats appeared in Native lore as symbols of rebirth. This one is bringing good wishes for more peaceful and more prosperous tomorrows. A nice reminder to stay open and believe. ARTISTIC CONCERNS: These new pieces are looser, more free, more expressive than I have been in ages. More confident. Less concerned with perfection and more content to play and imagine. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: This piece is on a stretched canvas. The fabric was stapled to the sides of the stretchers, but the staples are entirely covered with paint and do not detract. This painting would display nicely unframed either directly on the wall or on a small display stand.
