What a lovely piece to end 2005!  I am really happy with this painting.  It has been evolving for the better part of a month.  The textures and colors are bold and fluid.  The fish is unique.  And the words matter to me.  This is an image about perspective and it includes a single phrase painted in tiny black letters in the water.  The words read, "We are the tiniest of fishes in a pond more vast than time."

This vibrant image was created as a reminder that we are indeed very small and fragile and we are afloat in a vast and wonderous sea.  Please do not let your worries get the best of you.  Your problems are not nearly as big as you think.  Let go and enjoy this day you have been given.  Enjoy your tiny place in the sea.

How Big Pond was created.....   After the black gesso primer dried, I used palette knives to create the wild blue expressionist painting that supports the little fishy.  Once that dried, I used tiny detail brushes to paint the detail lines and the fish scene and the bubbles and the words.

Big Pond was painted on a rigid canvas panel.  The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel.   Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.  ***NOTE: I can include a new plastic stand with your order at no charge if you request one at the time of payment.
