Oil pastel on acid-free mat board

ABOUT THIS PIECE: This is admittedly an odd little piece. A friend and I set up this still life and we each did drawings of it. I am a wee bit uncomfortable working that way and I am not quite sure what to make of the finished work of art. I LOVE the colors and the line work is engaging. But the content and the immediacy of it are so unusual for me that it almost feels as though someone else drew it. Though my friend says it is very much me. Anyway, I thought it might speak to one of you and I know it will frame up beautifully and look nice in your kitchen or breakfast nook or sunroom. HOW IT WAS MADE: I have been working in oil pastels for many years now and have learned different techniques for layering colors. Each piece takes hand cramping concentration and lots of elbow grease, but I absolutely love the results. Oil pastels are one of my favorite media to work in. I signed this piece and added some accent lines by scratching through layers of oil pastel with a dental tool. DISPLAY OPTIONS: This image was created on white acid-free mat board. NOTE: There may be marks, abrasions or imperfection in / on the mat board that surrounds the drawing. Not the drawing itself, just the border. These marks will not show once your new art is matted and framed. This piece is sprayed with fixative, but the surface is still very fragile. You will want to frame your new drawing to protect your investment. To frame your artwork affordably, you can buy a ready-made frame at your local home or discount store and then bring the frame with the drawing to a custom-framer. The framer can mat the piece to fit the frame.
