This is such a nice floating buffalo. I have painted herds of floating bison in my time, but this one is especially sweet. And the colors in this piece are rich and elegant. This is a hopeful painting about how life works cyclically and mysteriously and how you have to have the challenging times in order to appreciate easier times. The easier times do come. Who doesn't need a happy floating buffalo or two? It does the spirit good to see those heavy earthy beasts up in the sky, light as a feather. How this piece was created..... This is a traditional brush painting with layers and layers and layers of color. Brighter was painted on a gorgeous panel of Belgian linen bonded with traditional rabbit-skin glue to a ¼” thick piece of masonite. The linen was primed with top-grade, old school gesso. It is the perfect surface for detailed painting. The texture of linen is so much finer than canvas. The image continues around the sides of the panel. This painting can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting. Or is can be displayed on a small decorative easel or plastic stand.
