I love this painting.  I smile every time I see this little blue bear.  Not only do I find the bummed out bear charming and the linework appealing, I really like the abstract expressionist painting behind the bear, too.  It really compliments the subject.  Originally, I had planned to paint a happy bear and I was going to fill the bear in with cinnamon brown fur.  But this bear had a mind of its own.  And everything came together so well!  I had a ball creating this piece and I hope it finds a good home with some other sensitive soul out there who appreciates ALL of Christmas including the blue parts.

How Bummer was created.....   I worked on this painting for a VERY long time.  After the black gesso primer dried, I used a palette knife to apply modeling paste and create some rich organic textures.  Once that layer dried, I used brushes, my fingers, a rag, palette knives, and paper towels to layer on all of the colors.  When those countless layers were dry, I used tiny detail brushes to add the gorgeous expressive bear and the accent lines and the words.

Bummer was painted on a rigid canvas panel.  The edges of the panel have been painted, so this piece looks lovely displayed just as it is on a small stand or decorative easel.   Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no glass or matting.  ***NOTE: I can include a new plastic stand with your order at no charge if you request one at the time of payment.
