(Enlarged to show details.  Below the drawing are my initials, the year "2006", and the name of the town, "Acoma, Minnesota".)

This is my favorite image from my travels.  It is so pretty and sweet and calming.  The church was in a small township of about 700 people.  And a sign out front said they had been worshiping together since 1860!  There was a graveyard behind the church and I imagine many generations of farm folk rest there.

How Church was created.....   First, I used a very fine black pen to sketch this image.  I had pulled over to the side of a small country road and was surprised to find regular semi-truck traffic on this road.  They would ROAR by me and my little rental car would sway and rock.  I was actually a wee bit frightened!  But I took my time to complete a detailed sketch of this scene including shading and a nice sense of light.  Later, I used colored inks to fill out the whole scene and then I layered oil pastel over the top to give it that soft, solid feeling.

Church was drawn on acid-free white mat board.  You will want to frame this lovely drawing to protect your investment.  One affordable means of framing is to purchase a standard-sized frame at your local home store and then bring the frame and the artwork together to a custom-framer.  Ask the framer to mat the art to fit the frame.
