These days it seems like everyone is an expert and you receive twenty seven bits of advice for any situation from the internet or the news or talk radio. It can be hard to hear your own truth and harder still to trust what you know. This pretty expressive contemporary painting is a nice reminder to check in with yourself and to trust what you feel. Also, I think for many of us, conflict is a huge ugly scary thing far too close to rejection and isolation. I like that this painting clearly depicts the difficulties of conflict while portraying the opposition in harmless warm colors and simple map-like symbols. To remind us that conflict does not have to be a monster. It can just be a difference between sympathetic individuals. This painting has grown on me over time. I have it on display in my studio and I really think it is a neat treat for my eyes. I hope it brings joy and comfort to some other repressed soul out there (like me) trying to accept and get comfortable with conflict. This is primarily a palette knife painting that evolved over many layers. It is noticeably textured. I did clear away all knife painting and all texturing from the "windows". The window scenes were painted with traditional paint brushes. This piece continues around the sides of the canvas allowing you to display your new painting unframed if you like. |

I trust my intuition.
