Decoy

Completed in 2007

4" x 4"

Acrylic on stretched canvas

The words in this piece read:  I still can't believe he is a decoy.

(Enlarged to show details.  This piece is visibly textured.)

Who among us has not fallen for a pretty decoy at some point in time?  They look so real.  So smooth and fine.  It is always shocking to discover they are hollow inside.

This gorgeous piece has amazing texture and depth to it.  Layers of color.  Like the wilderness.  Like reality.  Except for the duck.  He is flat.  Pretty, but flat.

The words in this piece read:  I can't believe he is a decoy.

How Decoy was created.....   I used palette knives, brushes, dental tools and my fingers to bring this pretty gem to life.

(The staple-free sides are painted to match so you can display this painting unframed if you like.  This is a digital photo.  The scans above are more acurate.)

This piece was created on a gallery stretched canvas primed with black acrylic gesso.  The image continues around the staple-free sides.  This painting may be displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a decorative display easel.  Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass.

I still can't believe he is a decoy.
