This is an unusual little abstract. With layers of gentle color and then contrasting active textures and three bold hearts. The words in this one say it all really. They read, "Accept the contradictions of love." I waste far too much time trying to reason with love. Trying to make sense of it all. This image was created as a reminder that love cannot be made to follow a consistent pattern. It just does not work that way. How Don't Fight It was created..... After priming this board with black acrylic gesso, I used a soft cloth and crinkled paper to apply a thin textured expressionist layer of soft colors. Once that underpainting dried, I used dental tools to scratch and abrade the surface. I alternated between painted layers and scratched layers to give the piece depth and a nice weathered feel. When the layers had built up to a cohesive whole, i used tiny detail brushes to paint the alternating hearts and the words.
(The image continues around the sides. This is a really crummy digital photo. The scans above and below are more accurate.) Don't Fight It was painted on a wooden board created specifically for use by artists. It has a recessed slot in the back allowing you to hang it flush with the wall. The sides of the board have been painted as well so that this piece would look wonderful displayed unframed either directly on the wall or on a small, decorative table-top easel. *** This piece also sits nicely on a small plastic display stand. I will include a display stand for free with your order if you request one at the time of payment.
