Title:  Damaged is Not Dead

Completed in:  2008

Size:  3.25" x 5"

Materials:  Acrylic on wood

The words read:  I survived.

(Enlarged to show details.)

MY REACTION:  This is a fun triumphant little painting.  Vibrant and bold.

CONTENT:  I roughed up the heart in this one.  It has scars and lumpy edges.  Just like most of us.

ARTISTIC CONCERNS:  This is a traditional brush painting.  The heart and the words were engraved in the surface with a dental tool.  The heart was also marked and abraded with a small knife.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:  This piece was created on a rough wood plaque with beveled edges.  Wood grain and saw marks are visible.  This piece already has a saw-toothed hanger attached and the sides are painted. Allowing you to display your new painting unframed if you choose.  Either directly on the wall or sitting on a small display stand.  Or it could be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.

I survived.
