Oh I just love this painting!  It is so rich and complex and fertile!  I have been working on Drawn off and on for over a month now.  And I was thrilled as I got to watch it unfold.  This is a really dynamic image.  With an interesting story to tell, too.  I am not going to comment on the story, though.  I will let the painting speak for itself.

There is a single sentence painted above the "window" which reads, "I drew a line in the sand." And then there is an additional sentence painted in the lines at the bottom of the piece.  That sentence reads, "And then I crossed that line again and again and again."

How Drawn was created..... This piece has lots of exciting stuff going on. The underpainting was all done with palette knives creating some great organic textures and lots of movement.  I did use small amounts of iridescent paint in that process, so this piece does shimmer faintly in the light.  Next, I used a paint roller and stencils to create all of the cool patterns.  I think I used my giant stippling brush for some of the background stuff, too.  I used a wide soft brush dipped in thinned black paint to flick on all of the natural black "specks".  And once those many layers of expressive painting dried, I used tiny detail brushes to create the all-important pencil and the accent lines and the words.

(The sides of have been painted warm green so you can display your new artwork unframed.  This is a digital photo, the scans above are more accurate.)

Drawn was painted on a rough wooden board primed with black gesso.  The image continues around the sides of the board.  So, I can attach a saw-tooth hanger to the back of this piece allowing you to display it unframed if you like. Just request a hanger at the time of payment.  Otherwise, this painting can be easily and affordably framed as it requires no matting or glass.
