I
recently found these cool triangular canvases and was so excited to
work on them. But I discovered that it is very hard to devise
a composition for this shape that is not "gimmicky" or goofy.
I worked on this painting for quite a while before it all came
together. It was worth the work! I am so pleased with
the results. This is a great sunny landscape with deep hues
and two expressive trees. And the words, "Let's run away
together."
I am hopeful this fun unusual piece will bring an eye-catching dose of color to your home or office. How Escapists was created... This is primarily a traditional brush painting filled with vibrant layers of color. There is some nice expressive painting in this piece. The tree-tops and the land are built up with acrylic modeling past - the trees are highly textured. I completed this piece using tiny 18/0 detail brushes to paint the trees, the words, and some key highlights. Escapists was painted on a professional-quality, triangular, gallery-wrapped canvas with deep 1.25" sides. This piece would look wonderful displayed unframed directly on the wall. Or it can be easily and affordably framed as it required no matting or glass. (Framers can frame this one!) This painting is also very stable sitting on edge and could be displayed that way on a shelf or desktop. I bought all of these uniquely shaped canvases that I could find, but that was not very many. And I am sad to report that the manufacturer quit making them last year. So you will see a few more of these from me in the near future, but that will likely be it for triangular pieces.
